The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. Psalm 28:7 NLT
When you look at this verse, it brings such comfort to the heart. Just to know that the Lord is our strength. What does that mean? Strength talks about physical power for most of us. But when David was talking about strength, he was not talking about physical strength alone. When he said the Lord is my strength, he could have been remembering the times in his life when things got rough. When he found himself in a predicament because the men he led wanted to take his life, he went to God in his distress. God told him to chase these men who stole from the company and they were able to recover what was stolen.
He is also a shield. In ancient time, men used shields in war for protection. War was up close and personal so a shield had the ability to save your life. Since you met your enemy face to face on the battlefield, a shield was a handy piece of equipment. In David’s life, the Lord was his strength and shield; as a result, he placed all his trust in Him. He knew that God was able to do what He said He would do. So when you face the difficulties of life, take a page from David’s life; trust in the Lord with all your heart.
Thought for Today: With God as your strength and shield, it fills your heart with joy.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
