Quench Your Thirst

My soul thirsts, pants, and longs for the living God. I want to come and see the face of God. Psalm 42:2 NLT

When I was about eleven years old, my great-grandfather was in the hospital. He would ask my grandmother to bring me to the hospital so he could see me. He was diabetic but every time I visited, he was in a coma. On the next visit he would say, “I’m longing to see her.” Many times in life, there are things people are longing for.  Here, David was longing for the living God. “O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water.’ Psalm 63:1.

Man has a thirst that natural water cannot quench. People try anything and everything to quench the thirst that is deep on the inside. David didn’t look for things that can’t satisfy. He said, “As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God.” Verse 1.  Animals experience thirst just like the rest of us. When the deer is thirsty, it goes after water. When the heart of man longs for peace on the inside; that  longing can only be filled by the living God. After people substitute things for God in their lives, they are thirsty again. But when the living God quenches your thirst, you will never be thirsty again.

Thought for Today: The living God satisfies the longing in the heart.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
