Finding Favor with God

So Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him. Genesis 6:22 NLT

When I was a child, we were given chores to do around the house. Everyone had their assigned task. We were told there was no such thing as girl’s work or boy’s work; it was just work. If something needed to be done, it would be assigned, not by gender but by age. When these assignments were given, it was important to do them the right way. Parents like to know that you followed the directions when they assign a task to you.

There came a time when the wickedness of man was great upon the earth; the desire to do evil consumed them continually but the Lord noticed that there was a difference in Noah. Verse 8 says, “But Noah found favor with the Lord.” God responded to the events on the earth. He said to Noah, “I have decided to destroy all living creatures, for they have filled the earth with violence. Yes, I will wipe them all out along with the earth!” “Build a large boat from cypress wood and waterproof it with tar, inside and out. Then construct decks and stalls throughout its interior” verses 13-`14.  If you have to assign a task, you would want someone who would follow your directions carefully.

The people on the earth had never seen a boat so you can imagine the ridicule that Noah endured as he obeyed God. It was not easy to step out and do something strange but Noah didn’t allow those things to influence him. Sometimes you can find yourself between a rock and a hard place because your assignment puts you on a rock all by yourself, somewhat like Noah. You feel that you are not up to the challenge but before you give up remember what David said in Psalm 23, ”Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.”  So even in the valley of isolation, He is with you. If you stay true to your task and complete it, then like Noah, you will find favor with God.

Thought for Today: Friend, it’s more important to obey God than to be accepted by man.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.

  1. Obedience is better than sacrifice. It is important to follow God’s instructions and carry it out completely. Noah found favor with God because of his obedience.🥰
