In you, O Lord, I seek refuge; do not let me ever be put to shame; in your righteousness deliver me. Psalm 31:1 NRSV
Life can be rough for adults as well as children. People of every age have to deal with bullies; they are found in the classrooms, in the work place and almost everywhere people assemble. But how do you deal with the bully in your life? One thing is certain; you may not be able to do it alone so many times you align yourself with someone who you believe has the power to rescue you from the bully.
David was in a predicament in Psalm 31; he had a huge problem. He knew that what confronted him was beyond his ability to resolve. So he sought help from God. He knew that God was greater than the problem he faced. David did not walk around in fear; he had confidence in the ability of God to deliver him. In Psalm 34:19 he said, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord rescues them from them all.” He recalled when faced the lion and the bear, they did not consume him. He remembered when he faced Goliath and he conquered the giant and gave Israel the victory. David knew that the God who delivered him then was able to deliver him now.
Are you facing a situation that wants to consume you? Are there bullies in your path? You don’t have to walk in fear because of the giants that are in your way. The problem that is overwhelming you is not a problem for the God to whom nothing is impossible. But God can’t resolve your problem if you refuse to turn it over to Him. That was David’s secret. In Psalm 121:1-2 he said, “I lift up my eyes to the hills— from where will my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” Whatever the problem, you can expect help from the Lord, if you do like David and you go to Him in prayer. He delivered David and He will deliver you.
Thought for Today: Friend, don’t fear; God will deliver you.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
