He Did It His Way!

While there are people who work at walking in obedience, there are those who like to do as they please. They want to take control of their life and situation believing that they are more knowledgeable that God about what is happening in their lives.

Then there are others who walk with God and allow people and circumstances to take their attention from the Lord. Before he died, David spoke to his son: he said “I am going where everyone on earth must someday go. Take courage and be a man. Observe the requirements of the Lord your God, and follow all his ways. Keep the decrees, commands, regulations, and laws written in the Law of Moses so that you will be successful in all you do and wherever you go. ( 2 Kings 2:2-3 NLT) David wanted his son to keep the charge of the Lord and do what He requires. When the children of Israel came to the promised land, they were given guidelines for behavior. Deuteronomy 7:3a says, “You shall not intermarry with them. Why did God say that? Good parents are concerned about the friends in their children’s lives.

Solomon chose to do what he pleased and intermarried. 1 Kings 11:1 says, “Now King Solomon loved many foreign women. Besides Pharaoh’s daughter, he married women from Moab, Ammon, Edom, Sidon, and from among the Hittites. Solomon had 700 wives of royal birth and 300 concubines. Actions have consequences and as a result, In Solomon’s old age, they turned his heart to worship other gods instead of being completely faithful to the Lord his God, as his father, David, had been.(verse 4) Solomon who built the temple and prayed so passionately that fire fell from heaven and consumed the offering, then, the presence of God filled the Temple. Yet, at the end of his life, God was angry with him and took the kingdom for his son. Be mindful, disobedience has terrible consequences.

Thought for Today:  Friend, it’s better to obey God.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
