O sing to the Lord a new song, For He has done marvelous and wonderful things; His right hand and His holy arm have gained the victory for Him. Psalms 98:1 AMP
When we look at this verse, there are a few things we are asked to do. The first thing I noticed was the heading: A call to praise the Lord for His righteousness. So let’s start there. Call means to cry out. As parents when we lose sight of our children we call them. We don’t whisper; we are loud so that we can get their attention. So call is an invitation to be vocal.
Praise means to glorify God. When we praise God, we speak highly of Him. We express our admiration and gratitude. When we look at our lives and we see all He has done for us and in us, we can’t help but praise. So we praise God for His righteousness. What is God’s righteousness? God’s righteousness speaks about His ethical conduct. Numbers 23:19 says it like this, “God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?” When we embrace His righteousness, there is nothing left to do but give Him praise.
Thought for Today: It’s a good thing to praise God.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
