God Heard Them

God heard their groaning, and he remembered his covenant promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Exodus 2:24 NLT

Just about everyone can recall a time when they wanted to communicate with someone, who paid no attention to them. It could have been in the workplace where you needed help to resolve an issue; it could have been at home where you were young and the elders in your family didn’t value your voice.

It doesn’t matter the arena, the situation is more or less the same. But there is something different in this verse. These people had burdens so great, that at times, they couldn’t express them with words so they just groaned before God. But God heard their groaning. He heard the sounds they made in their pain; He understood the sounds even when they couldn’t find words to describe the extent of their grief.

God didn’t just hear; He remembered! In Genesis 15, God told Abram that his descendants will be slaves in Egypt for four hundred years. Verse 14 says, “But I will punish the nation that enslaves them, and in the end they will come away with great wealth.” Earlier in the chapter, when they experienced the brutality of slavery in Egypt, they cried out to God for help.

Moses, a young Hebrew living in Pharaoh’s palace, looked at their condition, and although his heart ached for them, he was unable to help them. When God heard them, He had the ability to bring change in their situation. Your senses will say that your situation is hopeless, but when God looks at your situation, and He hears your groaning, He will take action. Verse 25 says, “He looked down on the people of Israel and knew it was time to act. He took action for them and He will take action for you.

Thought for Today: God hears your groaning.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
