The God of the If Moment

For she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.” Mark 5:28 NLT

There are so many issues that people face in life. When things go wrong, people like to say, if. . .For every problem there is an if.  When you got the news that the bridge collapsed and your family member was on the bridge, you cried, “If he wasn’t helping his friend, he would not be on that bridge.” When the doctor said that your condition was hopeless, you cried, ”If I had sought medical help earlier then the outcome would be different.”  If gets used a lot in moments of distress.

You might think that if is a modern alternative, when people face problems in their lives. This woman had a real problem; she had a bleeding disorder. We all have experienced health issues and there always seem to be a solution. That is what she thought when she got sick. But as time went by, she discovered that this issue was different from those she faced in the past. This problem was not going away easily. When you have good health insurance and money, sickness does not alarm you as those without health coverage.  But this bleeding disorder, was here to stay. She saw every specialist in that field but she didn’t better.

After she tried everything she knew, she realized that there was no hope for her. One day she heard someone talking about Jesus. As she listened, she realized that she had one if left. She said to herself, “If I can touch His clothes.” She had nothing to lose because she lost all she had to the doctors who promised a solution to her problem. She just couldn’t stop thinking about this Jesus. She went to where Jesus was, she pushed her way to the front and she touched His robe. She didn’t just touch His clothes as she walked by. No! She touched Him expecting a difference in her situation. She was not disappointed. “Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel in her body that she had been healed of her terrible condition.” verse 29.  Many times people want the result of a touch from Jesus but they are causal, without faith in His ability to bring the change they desire.  She believed and she was healed.

Thought for Today: Friend, faith in God gets results.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
