God: My Salvation!

See, God has come to save me. I will trust in him and not be afraid. The Lord God is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.” Isaiah 12:2 NLT

The concept of trust is difficult for most people to embrace. When you extend kindness, many times the recipient is skeptical. Why are you doing this? People believe that no one does anything without an expectation of some benefit in return. As a society, we are afraid to trust. I love old TV shows. I have no idea what is on TV now, but I can tell you what about what used to be. One old show I loved to watch was the Odd Couple.  I seem to remember one show where someone was trying to teach Felix that he could trust Oscar. Felix was supposed to fall and Oscar was waiting to catch him.  But Felix was afraid to let go. Oscar finally gave up and he walked away, Then Felix decided to try and fell flat on his back.  It was funny! At least I thought so.

Many times in our lives we behave the same way with God. We are afraid to let go. We lack confidence in God. The dictionary tells us that confidence is the feeling or belief that we can rely on someone or something. We are willing to put our confidence in the bus driver, the train operator, or the airplane pilot but not in God. Isaiah did not share that belief. He realized that God was someone he could rely on. He knew from his experiences with God, that God would save him.  David felt the same way.  In Psalm 57:1 he said, “Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy! I look to you for protection. I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by.”  David didn’t depend on the generals in the army; He knew that true protection came from God.

God is our strength therefore, with God, we can walk in victory. Isaiah didn’t wonder about it, he knew God gave victory to His people. ”In that day the people will proclaim, “This is our God! We trusted in him, and he saved us! This is the Lord, in whom we trusted. Let us rejoice in the salvation he brings!” Isaiah 25:9.  We don’t have to fear; if we trust in God then He will give us victory.

Thought for Today: Friend, in your hard places, you can trust God.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
