Living by God’s Word

What happens when we encounter folks who have a lifestyle of telling stories? They have developed a habit of adding to even the simplest event. You cannot take the word of that person; if they say run; you would stand to see what is happening. It’s difficult to trust someone like that because their words have no value.

That is not a problem for God. His word is truth. John 17:17 AMP says, “Sanctify them in the truth [set them apart for Your purposes, make them holy]; Your word is truth.” The truth of God’s word impacts our lives; it makes us holy. Holiness is defined as having a relationship with God defined by obedience to His will and being shaped to have His character. The only way  for  us to become holy is through studying the word of God.

After spending time studying God’s word, what do you do  with the information? Well, the Apostle James gives the answer in James 1:22 NLT. But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.”  Since our walk of faith have eternal consequences, it’s wise to apply God’s word to our lives. David understood the power of application. He said, “Your word I have treasured and stored in my heart, That I may not sin against You.” (Psalm 119:11 Darby) The word of God will expose sin and prevent us from living sinful lives .

Thought for Today: Friend, God’s word is truth.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
