Then God Showed Up

Have you ever had a situation that seemed impossible? I don’t know about you, but I’ve been in situations like those before. Everything appears to be going well and out of nowhere, things are out of control because everything is not working the way it should. What do you do?

Well in the book of Esther, they had a similar experience. Things were not perfect but there was no fear of death. Then one day, Haman, the highest official in the land of Persia, felt disrespected because Mordecai did not give him the respect, he felt he deserved. Haman decided to take matters in his own hands and punish Mordecai for his disrespect. But how could he accomplish that without appearing that he targeted one individual. He came up with a brilliant plan; he would target all the Jews who lived in Persia for death.

What can they do? They didn’t have political power, so it appeared that this plan was foolproof. Mordecai asked Queen Esther, his niece, to intervene. She was reluctant to act.  Mordecai sent this reply to Esther: “Don’t think for a moment that because you’re in the palace you will escape when all other Jews are killed. If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?” (Esther 4:13-14 NLT) Esther responded, “Go and gather together all the Jews of Susa and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same. And then, though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die.” (Verse 16)

Well, Esther went before the king, and he gave her and her people the ability to defend themselves. Haman planned for his day and erected a gallows for Mordecai. Then God showed up and His people defended themselves and not one of them lost their life. This might seem grim but when God shows up, He turns your mourning into singing.

Thought for Today: Friend, when God shows up, things happen.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
