A promise is a statement by a person that he or she will or will not do something. Children pay attention to the promises made by their parents. At times, parents make promises and as their circumstances change, their ability to keep their promises fails.
Genesis 15:1 NKJV says, “After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.” What a promise from the mouth of God. Abram was living in a distant country and God spoke to him. He told him to leave all he knew and loved behind and travel to a strange place. While he was in that foreign land, God gives him this promise.
God told him don’t be afraid. You might not understand what is happening but don’t fear. First, He said I will be your shield. A shield is a broad piece of defensive armor. So, if Abram was under attack, he knew God was in front of him shielding him from danger.
We too, have divine protection from God. When the enemy comes with his darts of frustration and fear, God is our shield. Then, He said I will be your reward. Isaiah 3:10 says, “Tell the godly that all will be well for them. They will enjoy the rich reward they have earned!” Although things might be chaotic around you, you don’t have to be afraid. God is our shield and our exceedingly great reward.
Thought for Today: Friend, God is our shield.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
