When You Honor God

When I was a child, my grandmother always spoke of the patience of Job. When she felt we were driving her crazy, and  by the way, that was all in her imagination, she would ask God for that kind of patience. When you think of all the things he went through, I believe we too, can strive to walk like he did.

What happened to Job? Job 1:8 AMP tells us, “The Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered and reflected on My servant Job? For there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God [with reverence] and abstains from and turns away from evil [because he honors God].” Look at what God said about Job. In short,  God said that Job reverenced and honored Him. Can God say that about you? Job’s actions and behavior was a result of the way he saw God.

When he lost all his children and possessions, it did not change his view of his God. He did not complain and grumble and ask why me. No! “Then Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head [in mourning for the children], and he fell to the ground and worshiped [God]. He said, “Naked (without possessions) I came [into this world] from my mother’s womb, And naked I will return there. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord.” (Verses 20-21)

His friends came to help him but became the biggest hardship in his life. They accused him and said all manner of things about him. Are you in a Job situation? Have you been accused and misused? Take a page from Job; don’t let the actions of your “friends” cause you to sin against God. In the end, God stepped in; God refused to hear the prayer of Job’s friends; Job had to pray for them. But God restored Job and gave him twice as much as he had before. When you honor God, God will honor you.

Thought for Today: Friend, honor God and He will honor you.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
