Many, if not all of us, have been a victim of unfair practices. These practices are always a hardship in our lives. Sometimes, children can be in the same home and one child seems to bear the burden of all if not most of the housework chores while the other children can do as they please. If you complain, the response many a time is that life is not fair,
What do you do when you are subjected to unfair practices? Well, the responses are varied but today, we will look at one man and the series of circumstances that impacted his life. Jacob had an older twin brother; however, he tricked his father into giving him a blessing meant for his older brother Esau. Esau became angry and vowed to kill him. Jacob was sent to his uncle’s house to preserve his life. There he met the love of his life, Rachel. When he asked for her hand in marriage, he had to work seven years to marry her. After seven years, he found that he was married to her older sister Leah; requiring him to work another seven years for Rachel.
His uncle’s dishonesty extended to his business arrangements with Jacob. He did his best to rob him but throughout his difficulties, Jacob trusted in God. How did Jacob trust God? He placed his confidence in God’s ability to work things out for him. Psalm 118:8 KJV says, “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.” Jacob knew that Labaan was dishonest, but he put his trust in God. Despite Laban’s efforts, God blessed Jacob.
Proverbs 3:5-6 AMP says, “Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].” Jacob trusted God. It must have been difficult living through those difficult circumstances, but he kept his eyes on God. In God’s time, He make Jacob’s path prosperous.
Thought for Today: Friend, when life is difficult, trust God.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
