There are many areas of our lives where training is required; we train our children as well as our pets. If you want your child to dance, you send him or her to dance classes where the child would be trained to become a dancer. This is true for every aspect of our lives; in every area, training is required.
Training is required in our walk with God. The word train means teach a particular skill or type of behavior through practice and instruction. So, there are some things, as children of God, we need to be taught. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 CEV, “Everything in the Scriptures is God’s Word. All of it is useful for teaching and helping people and for correcting them and showing them how to live. The Scriptures train God’s servants to do all kinds of good deeds.” The word of God teaches us how to live.
The Word of God teaches us that we need to be fruitful. The fruit is evidence of the tree, an apple can only produce apple trees and likewise an orange tree can only produce oranges. We are also known for our fruit. Jesus said John 13:35, “If you love each other, everyone will know that you are my disciples.” Love is the fruit that tells the world that we are God’s children and love requires training. Think about it for a minute; we like to look out for ourselves. We are selfish; love teaches us to put others ahead of ourselves.
Jesus told a parable in Luke 10:25-37, about a man who was in need. Those whom society held in high esteem, as the example of godly behavior, did nothing to help the individual in distress. The man who many in that community saw as unworthy, demonstrated love. The kind of love that God wants us to demonstrate so others can see the love of God in us. Loving like that takes training in God’s word. I pray that we would love like Jusus through practice and instruction.
Thought for Today: Friend, stay in God’s word and learn to love like Jesus.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
