Growth in every area of life is essential. Babies have regular checkups so the doctors can confirm that their growth rate falls into the realm of normal. The doctors weigh, measure, then chart their results on a graph to check their progress. The most heartbreaking news for parents is a prognosis of failure to thrive. As people of faith, we need to grow in grace.

Colossians 3:16 AMP
Let the [spoken] word of Christ have its home within you [dwelling in your heart and mind—permeating every aspect of your being] as you teach [spiritual things] and admonish and train one another with all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
