Just Bless the Lord!

In the United States, people are talking about Thanksgiving. The conversations are mostly centered around what we plan to cook; and some items are on the menu make an appearance once a year, so for many, it’s a big deal. Is Thanksgiving just about food and fellowship?  When we look at the world at large, thankfulness is a forgotten art.

Deuteronomy 8:10 NLT says, When you have eaten your fill, be sure to praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.” Why did Moses say this to the people? He knew that people tend to forget. We appreciate what we receive when we receive it, but we have difficulty being thankful. Moses reminded them,  after they experience the goodness of God, they should take some time and praise God.

When we look at their history, we can see that God was good to them. He delivered them from slavery and brought them out with a mighty hand. Even though Pharaoh changed his mind and sent his army to retrieve them; the Egyptian army perished. Many times, we have difficulty understanding their ungratefulness. But how different are we? Do we remember the kindness of God in our lives? Do we remember those who helped us when we were in need? Let us reflect about God’s goodness and develop an attitude of gratitude, not only on Thanksgiving but every day of the year.

Thought for Today: Friend, every day is a good day to give God thanks.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
