Today we have the opportunity to celebrate another year that God has kept us alive. The dictionary defines thanksgiving as the act of giving thanks, grateful acknowledgment of benefits or favors, especially to God. So today, like every day, is a day to give thanks unto God. God desires that we give thanks; thanksgiving needs to be an everyday occurrence.
Jesus demonstrated thanksgiving in His life. In Matthew 15, He was teaching the people and felt compassion because they spent so much time listening to Him. When He asked the disciples to feed them; they were overwhelmed. They wondered where they would be able to get food in the wilderness to feed the huge crowd. Jesus asked them what was available, and they told Him seven loaves and a few small fish. “So, Jesus told all the people to sit down on the ground. Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, thanked God for them, and broke them into pieces. He gave them to the disciples, who distributed the food to the crowd.” (Verses 35-36 NLT) Everybody had as much as they needed. They were able to feed four thousand men and collect seven baskets full of leftover food.
Jesus demonstrated a powerful truth; in everything we undertake, we need to give thanks. Sometimes we want to wait until we have much to give thanks. If we give thanks for the little, we have, there is no limit to what Gods can do in our lives and in our circumstances.
Thought for Today: Friend. In everything, give thanks.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
