Walking is something we take for granted; you put one foot in front of the other and you go. It is so basic that you never give it another thought unless you stomp your toe. But for the most part, it’s automatic. That was true for me until vertigo stepped into my life. Walking is not on auto pilot anymore. Now, my steps are dependent on the terrain. If the way is smooth, all is well; when it’s not, there is the possibility that I might stumble.
This verse in Psalm 121:3 NLT is very comforting for me. He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. It’s comforting to know that that there is someone watching over us who cares about us and is willing and able to protect us. When I think of the word stumble, I see someone walking and there is something in the way. You don’t see it and you trip. You lose your balance and might make some crazy steps, but you don’t fall.
The Psalmist does say He will prevent you from stumbling. So, in our lives, if we have sufficient light, and the walkway is not even, there is the possibility of tripping. Our God shines enough light in our path to make the dangers known. If we take heed, we will not stumble. So, if we stumble, it means we are not allowing the Savior to lead. Proverbs 1:33 says, “But all who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm.”
Thought for Today: Friend, let the Savior lead.
