Dark days! We don’t like them; we don’t want them, but they are a part of our lives. Dark days are filled with sorrow, but they develop character. When we persevere even in the face of difficulty, we mature into the people God created us to be. It’s like a garden; as much as we do not like rainy days, they are necessary to bring beauty out of our garden.
God’s people rejected the commandments of the Lord and did what they wanted. Their leaders did what was evil in the sight of the Lord; and the people followed their example. As evil begat more evil, God allowed the Babylonian, King Nebuchadnezzar, to subdue them. 2 Kings 24:15 NLT says, “Nebuchadnezzar led King Jehoiachin away as a captive to Babylon, along with the queen mother, his wives and officials, and all Jerusalem’s elite.” Then verse 20 says, “These things happened because of the Lord’s anger against the people of Jerusalem and Judah, until he finally banished them from his presence and sent them into exile.”
Nebuchadnezzar thought that he had destroyed Israel, but God spoke to His people while they were in Babylon and said, “For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11 AMP) God encouraged them to keep busy and live productive lives in Jeremiah 29. Captivity was not the end; it was an opportunity for a new beginning. God is a god of new beginnings. Don’t fear dark days: Dark days are opportunities for new beginnings.
Thought for Today: Friend, you can hope in God. Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory
