Don’t Be Self-Centered

Service is a direct result of our relationship with Christ. However, there needs to be caution. We should not allow our service to become self-centered for our own personal gain.

Philippians 2:3-4 AMP

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit [through factional motives, or strife], but with [an attitude of] humility [being neither arrogant nor self-righteous], regard others as more important than yourselves. Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.

Matthew 18:1 CEV

About this time the disciples came to Jesus and asked him who would be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Romans 12:3 AMP

For by the grace [of God] given to me I say to everyone of you not to think more highly of himself [and of his importance and ability] than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has apportioned to each a degree of faith [and a purpose designed for service].

1 Corinthians 10:12 AMP

Therefore let the one who thinks he stands firm [immune to temptation, being overconfident and self-righteous], take care that he does not fall [into sin and condemnation].

James 4:2-3 NLT

You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.  And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.

  1. Romans 12 says, Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but be a new and different person with a fresh newness in all you/ I do and think.
