When we hear about the fear of the Lord, we become afraid. We understand fear. We understand the feeling of dread when we find ourselves in a situation where we believe our safety has been compromised. The fear of the Lord is different; it’s not a fear of terror but a fear that honors and reverences God.
Proverbs 1:7 AMP
The [reverent] fear of the Lord [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] is the beginning and the preeminent part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence];
But arrogant fools despise [skillful and godly] wisdom and instruction and self-discipline.
Job 28:28 NLT
And this is what he says to all humanity:
‘The fear of the Lord is true wisdom;
to forsake evil is real understanding.’”
Ecclesiastes 12:13 AMP
When all has been heard, the end of the matter is: fear God [worship Him with awe-filled reverence, knowing that He is almighty God] and keep His commandments, for this applies to every person.
Psalm 33:8 AMP
Let the whole world fear the Lord,
and let everyone stand in awe of him.
Psalm 86:11 AMP
Teach me Your way, O Lord,
I will walk and live in Your truth;
Direct my heart to fear Your name [with awe-inspired reverence and submissive wonder].
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
