Following  Enoch’s Example

Many times, in life, we are identified by our relationships. Our first identity relationship is with our parents: we are children. As we continue to grow and change, we engage in more relationships. There are times that these relationships bring joy, and other times, sorrow. But there is one relationship in life that is a source of joy; that is our relationship with God.

The Bible gives many examples of individuals and their relationship with God. Today we will look at Enoch. There is not a lot of information about him but the little that was shared speaks volumes. Genesis 5:23-24 AMP says, “So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. And [in reverent fear and obedience] Enoch walked with God; and he was not [found among men], because God took him [away to be home with Him]. What a testimony about his relationship with God! He walked with God in reverent fear and obedience.

What words can be used to describe your relationship with God? Sometimes, we are bent on doing things in our own way and those words that were used to describe Enoch’s relationship with God, doesn’t fit into our lives. Knowing this, the Apostle Paul encouraged the Philippian church when he said, “Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear.” (Philippians 2:12 NLT) In other words, take a page out of Enoch’s book. In so doing we would live lives that please God.

Thought for Today: Friend, let’s follow Enoch’s example.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
