Blindsided! Every driver is aware that there are blind spots when driving. Non drivers have a tough time understanding that concept. You can see a car traveling towards you and there comes a spot where the car would seem to disappear. The car entered your blind spot. The fact that you cannot see it does not mean it’s not there.
Blindsided is defined as when you are struck by surprise from an unexpected direction. Have you ever had that experience? There are those who never fully recover when they have been blindsided. The Book of Job is about a man who thought that he was blindsided. Job 1:1 NLT says, “There once was a man named Job who lived in the land of Uz. He was blameless—a man of complete integrity. He feared God and stayed away from evil.“ We believe that someone who fears God and walks in integrity, will only experience God’s best.
One day, something unexpected happened, God boasted to the enemy about His servant Job. The enemy inferred that Job served God for benefits. The enemy asked and God allowed him to put Job to the test. Job had the kind of day that nobody wants to have; in one day, he received messages from four messengers. Each reporting loss: Job lost his children and his wealth. He was blindsided! But that did not cause him to change his language or behavior. He said, “I came naked from my mother’s womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The Lord gave me what I had, and the Lord has taken it away. Praise the name of the Lord!” (verses 21-22)
Unfortunately, this experience is not unique to Job. There are many of us who have been blindsided by life. We experienced attacks from sources that completely took us by surprise. We were overwhelmed and not sure how to proceed. In those moments, do like Job and praise God. Praise God even when you are accused of misconduct. Praise God while the storm is raging. Praise God even when it seems that there is no way out, who knows if God was boasting about you.
Thought for Today: Friend, the answer is in your praise.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
