Beware: Destiny Killers!

There are times in life when we are limited by the views and opinions of others. They believe that we do not have the skill and ability to succeed in a chosen path and they are not shy about expressing their opinions on the matter. What do you do when those closest to you cannot see the value in who you are or what God has placed in you?

When we look at the life of David, we can see that he had a similar problem. God sent the prophet Samuel to anoint one of Jessee’s sons. Jessee presented every son except David. Jessie did not see anything of value in David. When Samuel saw all the sons that Jessie presented, he told Jesse, “The Lord has not chosen any of these.” Then Samuel asked, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is still the youngest,” Jesse replied. “But he’s out in the fields watching the sheep and goats.” “Send for him at once,” Samuel said. “We will not sit down to eat until he arrives.” (1 Samuel 16:10-11 NLT)

Jesse sent for David, the forgotten son; when he arrived, there was a response. “And the Lord said, “This is the one; anoint him.”  (verse 12) David’s father placed a boundary on David’s life, and he was determined to keep David in that place caring for the sheep. Divid didn’t allow his family’s attitude and opinion to affect him or the quality of his work. David used his time in the field to prepare for his destiny although he did not know this. When destiny called, he had an answer for King Saul, he said, “I have been taking care of my father’s sheep and goats,” he said. “When a lion or a bear comes to steal a lamb from the flock, I go after it with a club and rescue the lamb from its mouth. If the animal turns on me, I catch it by the jaw and club it to death.”  ( verses 34-35) Then he concludes with, “The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!”  (Verse 37) There will always be those who want to label so that they can control your future and destiny; they are destiny killers. Don’t allow them to kill your destiny.

Thought for Today: Friend, don’t allow anyone to sabotage your destiny.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
