What Are You Wearing?

When children play, they sometime form teams. Each side has a captain, and the captain chooses team members. If you are the first individual chosen, it is a good feeling. However, if your name never gets called and you are placed on a team because you are there, it can be defeating. We all want to feel valued and appreciated.

The Apostle Paul spoke about being chosen to a team in Colossians 3:12 AMP. He said, “So, as God’s own chosen people, who are holy [set apart, sanctified for His purpose] and well-beloved [by God Himself], put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience [which has the power to endure whatever injustice or unpleasantness comes, with good temper]; If you feel isolated and alone, be encouraged, God chose you. This is not a team that is playing to win an earthly championship; this team leader has already won the victory. Considering that, our membership requires something from us; we must clothe ourselves.

Our clothing speaks about us. I was at the garden center today and saw the clothing some people chose to wear. Their choices tell a story. In the same way, our clothing speaks about us. The Apostle Paul wants us to put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. The  NLT use the word clothe. This verse tells us that caring is a choice. When you wake up in the morning, you clothe yourself before you leave the house. You decide what you will wear. In the same manner, we must make a choice to allow these qualities to become part of who we are. When we choose to clothe ourselves with these qualities, then we represent our Lord well.

Thought for Today: Friend, dress appropriately.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
