He Is My Shield!

Many times, life can be difficult. You think that there is nothing worse than what you are facing. You begin to compare your plight with the plight of others and their situation seems more tolerable than yours.

Then you read about David when he wrote Psalm 3. So, what was happening in his life? Let’s look at the beginning of the Psalm: O Lord , I have so many enemies; so many are against me. So many are saying, “God will never rescue him!” (Psalm 3:1-2 NLT) David was running from his son who wanted to take his life and sit on his throne. It’s easy to fight when your enemy is a stranger, but how do you fight with your family members?

David found himself in a place that only God can help him. He was living and walking in pain. It’s easy to fight the unknown soldier because it’s easy at that time to identify the enemy. David found a way to fight; he said, But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head. (verse 3) David recognized that the Lord is his shield. A shield is a defensive weapon to protect and preserve life. When, like David, you are in a difficult fight, remember that the Lord is your shield.

Thought for Today: Friend, the Lord is your shield.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
