There are some things in life that bring joy to the heart. It is usually something that adds intense pleasure and enjoyment. It could be said that it is a strong feeling of wanting to have something or wishing for something to happen; in other words, it’s a desire.
There are desires that reside only in our hearts. They never cross our lips. We don’t even want to utter those words because they are usually the things we want most. In Psalm 37:4 NLT David said, “Take delight in the Lord , and he will give you your heart’s desires.” God wants us to have the things that are our hearts desires; there is one condition: we must delight in Him.
What does that mean? When you delight in the Lord, you want to please Him highly. What does that look like? Well, when our heart is tender towards God, we align our ways with His ways and out thoughts with His thoughts. Therefore, the things we desire will be things that honor and glorify God and as a result, He will grant our hearts’ desires. So how do we please God? David has the answer for that also. Psalm 119:11 says, I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. Taking delight in the Lord simply put means living in obedience to the word of God.
Thought for Today: Friend, delight in the Lord!
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
