Noah’s Obedience and Trust: A Lesson for Challenging Times

When I was a teenager, one of my relatives promised me something and I was excited. I looked for it and kept looking but as days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months, I had to acknowledge that the promised item would not arrive. It’s not easy to acknowledge that you were cast aside.

In the Book of Genesis, we meet a character called Noah. Noah is known as the man who built the Ark in obedience to God’s command. Why? The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil. (Genesis 6:5 NLT) Actions generate consequences and God responded. “I will wipe this human race I have created from the face of the earth. Yes, and I will destroy every living thing—all the people, the large animals, the small animals that scurry along the ground, and even the birds of the sky. I am sorry I ever made them.” (Verse 7)

So, Noah built the Ark. The people of Noah’s time couldn’t understand what was happening. When Noah completed the Ark, then Noah, his family and the animals selected went on board and God closed the door of the Ark. The rains came and every creature that was not in the safety of the Ark perished. Noah trusted God during those uncertain times. Can you imagine the volume of water upon the earth after the rain fell for forty days? Genesis 8:1 tells us, But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and livestock with him in the boat. He sent a wind to blow across the earth, and the floodwaters began to recede. How can you emulate Noah’s obedience and trust in God during challenging times?

I remember how disappointed I felt when people failed to keep their promises. God is faithful, He remembers us and will cause the floodwaters of anxiety, fear, sickness, or whatever concerns us to recede. You can never lose when you obey God.

Thought for Today: Friend, God remembers us.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
