Trusting God When the Way is Long

In these times, we like things that are quick and of course we all know that the shortest route is one that is a straight line. But we must ask ourselves, what is most important, speed or quality? We have become conditioned to expect our needs and desires to be met instantly.

When God rescued his children from Egypt, He charted a course that seemed strange. He didn’t choose the main route because it would take them through Philistine territory. No God in His wisdom chose a different route. “If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” So God led them in a roundabout way through the wilderness toward the Red Sea. Thus, the Israelites left Egypt like an army ready for battle. (Exodus 13:17-18 NLT)

Sometimes we don’t understand what God is doing and we murmur and grumble. This brings Jeremiah 29:11 to mind when God says He has plans for our lives. They did not get out by the shortest route  because God wanted to punish them; God chose that route because He wanted their journey to be a success. That is the same way God works in our lives. We may think our plan is best, but we don’t know where the Philistine camp is located. When it seems, that God is taking the long way, trust Him, He is working all things for our good.

Thought for Today: Friend, when life is uncertain, trust God.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
