Following Christ’s Example of Selfless Humility

One of the most difficult things anybody can do is to attempt to imitate someone else. We frown on that kind of behavior. But there are many people who are influenced by others, and they want to behave like someone else. Well, is that something that we should do?

The Bible has the answer for that question in Philippians 2:5 AMP, “Have this same attitude in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus [look to Him as your example in selfless humility]” We need to have the same attitude which was in Christ Jesus. Usually, when we talk about attitude is always negative. The dictionary tells us that attitude is a settled way of thinking about someone or something. So now we understand why the Apostle Paul says to look to Him as our example of selfless humility.

He goes on to explain that Jesus, the Son of God, gave up His deity, put on humanity, and died in our place (Philippians 2:6-8) This tells us that we have no reason to behave otherwise. We need to be humble. Humility requires that we put God and others ahead of our selfish interests. Sometimes, that is not so easy, but it doesn’t mean that it is impossible. Jesus Christ put our welfare ahead oh His own interests. When we volunteer at a facility that helps people in distress, we put others first. When people are hungry and naked, they are in distress. This means giving up some of our free time to ease the burden of someone else. Sometimes it might require that we reach into our pockets to help someone in need. Then we can see that we are following Christ’s example, and we become examples of selfless humility.

Thought for Today: Friend, follow Christ’s example.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
