The God of Impossible Situations

Children tell tall stories and sometimes all you can do is laugh. Their plans are so impossible that superman does not have to power to make them happen. What do you do when they tell these tall stories? Most if not all of the times we laugh. We know that this is not a mission that is possible.

Sometimes in life, we can respond with laughter at some seemingly impossible tasks. That was the case with Abraham. Twenty-five years ago, at the age of seventy-five, God gave him a promise. God told him to leave his home, his family, and go to an unknown place and in that place, He will make him a great nation. (Genesis 2:1-2) Now twenty-five years later, Abraham is still waiting for the child of promise. Now he is about one hundred years old, and Sarah is ninety, and God is still telling him about that child.

Then Abraham bowed down to the ground, but he laughed to himself in disbelief. “How could I become a father at the age of 100?” he thought. “And how can Sarah have a baby when she is ninety years old?”  (Genesis 17:17 NLT) Abraham, had a problem believing, so he laughed. Sarah overheard a conversation when the Lord visited Abraham and she heard about the child of promise and she laughed and wondered: “How could a worn-out woman like me enjoy such pleasure, especially when my master—my husband—is also so old?”  (Genesis 18:12) Abraham and Sarah laughed because they looked at the facts and not through faith in God. God does not work by facts; He works by faith.

God does not change, sometimes His promises can seem impossible, and we may want to laugh. Just remember what Jesus said in Matthew 19:26,  “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.”

Thought for Today: Friend, have faith and trust God.
