Jesus: The Light that Dispels Darkness

There are children and even some adults who would not go to sleep in a dark room. There is a measure of fear when they confront the darkness of nighttime. If we are honest, we would admit that there are some places we would not go at night. Why? Because at night there is no light.

The dictionary defines light as something that makes vision possible. So when we walk in the dark, we are unable to see. There are people who do things in the dark that they wouldn’t do in the light. I remember traveling home one night with a new car. I stopped at a light, and some young people surrounded the car. They looked in and walked away. I thank God for His angels that cover His people. It’s dangerous to walk around in the dark.

Light dispels darkness and gives us the ability to see at night. Physical darkness is bad, but  spiritual darkness is eternally deadly. What do we do? The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine. (Isaiah 9:2 NLT). Who is that light? Jesus said “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness because you will have the light that leads to life.” (John 8:12). However, Jesus, the Light, will not impose Himself into the dark areas of your life. For the Light to come and make changes in your life, you have to invite Him in. Jesus is the only light to dispel spiritual darkness. If you invite Him in, He will make a difference in your life.

Thought for Today: Friend, don’t walk in spiritual darkness.
