Life is about choices and choices are part of our daily lives. We choose our hot beverage in the morning: coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. On our day-off, we choose to get up early or stay in bed. Even little ones make their choices known; when they begin to identify those in their community, they turn their backs when people they deem as outsiders try to hold them.
Today, we still have the power to choose; we can choose to do what’s right or do what we feel. Unfortunately, society has turned our value system upside down and what is right is no longer accepted as right. When God’s people left Egypt, they left with power and a promise. God led them to the place He choose for them. They arrived and selected twelve men to spy out the land. I can only imagine the excitement when the spies left. When they returned, they gave an evil report. Their task was to evaluate the land; instead, they reported on the ability of the people to conquer those living there.
They said, “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are!” (Numbers 31:13 NLT) They missed the purpose of the exercise; they began to look at the project through their eyes. Sometimes, we behave in the same way! We look at what God has laid before us, and we determine what the outcome would be in our own eyes and immediately we made a choice to doubt the ability of God to do what He said He would do. What’s worse, they encouraged the people to doubt God’s promise. They paid a high price for doubting God because they never entered the Promised Land. We can stand on the brink of our blessing and lose it because we made the choice to doubt God. Let us let choose to do what is right before and choose to trust God.
Thought for Today: Friend, make the right choice and trust God.
