One of the greatest blessings we have as people of faith is community. What is a community? The Bible Dictionary defines community as a group of individuals who are united by shared beliefs, values, and purposes, often centered around faith in God and adherence to His commandments.
What are the benefits of being a member of a community? Well, let’s look at some of these benefits; communities provide a place to connect and belong. There is no other connection that is more important or rewarding than our connection to our Lord, and Savior, Jesus Christ. We are connected to Him, and so we are connected to each other. The early church understood this. “And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had.” (Acts 2:44 NLT).
There is comfort in belonging; you are welcomed and accepted by the people in your community. What joy and happiness these connections bring! Psalms 133:1 says: How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony! We hear harmony in music when connected notes come together to form a chord. Let’s us come together like connected notes and produce beautiful harmony so others would want to become members of the community of faith.
