Loving God by Showing Kindness to Others!

There is not one person alive who has never been the recipient of the kindness of others. The fact that we are alive tells us that at some point in our lives, someone cared for us; someone was concerned about our welfare.

As members of the family of God, we are expected to care for and show concern for each other. In Matthew 24 and 25, Jesus was teaching His disciples. He covered the final judgment where the King recounted the actions that he expressed as caring for Him. So they wanted to know when they had the opportunity to care for the King. Jesus responded: “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’ (Matthew 25:40 NLT).

God places a high priority on the way we care for others. We like to pass the joy of caring for others to groups in the community. However, Jesus said, “And if you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of my followers, you will surely be rewarded.”  (Matthew 10:42 NLT). Here, Jesus used the example of a cup of water; even people without means have access to a cup of cold water. We can all participate in caring for others, knowing that God expects these actions from us, and He will reward those who show kindness.

Thought for Today: Friend, a little kindness, with God, goes long way.
