When Kindness Leads to a Harvest of Blessing!

What happens to people when they live a lifestyle of seeing others? I mean, when they observe and act to improve the lives of others; someone will see them. Well, there is an example of that principle in 2 Kings 4.

There was a woman who saw Elisha and identified an area in his life that she could make a difference. When he experienced her act of kindness, he called for her; you see, he wanted to show his gratitude. But the things he offered were not important to her. When she left, his servant Gehazi told Elisha that she was childless. Elisha told her: “Next year at this time you will be holding a son in your arms!” “No, my lord!” she cried. “O man of God, don’t deceive me and get my hopes up like that.” (2 Kings 4:16 NLT). Elisha touched the barren area in her life.

She had no idea how her act of kindness would come back to her. Galatians 6:9 says, “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” She did not allow the pain of her barreness to impact how she interacted with others. We all have an area of barreness. Let’s continue showing kindness; one day, our barreness will give way to a harvest of blessing in our lives.

Thought for Today: Friend, kindness has its rewards.
