In nature, there are seasons; and there are characteristics for every season. Seasons give us variety in nature. Even if we don’t always like the brutal cold of a hard winter or a heat wave in the summer, we enjoy the variety that seasons offer.
Personally, my favorite season is spring; it’s the signal for me to get back in my garden. In spring, all the plants and trees that went dormant in the fall and winter begin to emerge with new life. Sometimes, in our walk with God, we become inactive, like perennial plants in the fall. That can be problematic. “So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming.” (Matthew 24:42 NLT). Going dormant in your walk of faith can be dangerous.
What can we do? Well, I use the warmer temperatures to my advantage; it allows seeds to germinate. The Holy Spirit provides the sunshine we need; let the warmth of God’s love and mercy flood our hearts and lives so that we will have only one season: a constant walk with God. The variety of the seasons gives us variety in our lives, God desires consistency. “But the one who endures to the end will be saved.” (Matthew 24:13).
Thought for Today: Friend, cultivate a consistent walk God.
