Our churches are made up of people. There are men, women, and young people serving in our churches. I know that in these days and times, it’s not the in thing to do. Modern thinking had no place for God and society, it seems, dismisses the existence of God. However, as people of faith, we have a personal relationship with God.
When we look into the word of God, we see a variety of individuals. There were many women who served in different aspects of ministry. Now, in a time when women were not included in any leadership positions, God chose Deborah to be a judge in Israel. The Book of Judges is a cycle of disobedience, punishment, repentance, and deliverance. God would raise up a judge to deliver His people from the hands of their enemies. Deborah shared the battle plans from God, ‘Barak told her, “I will go, but only if you go with me.” (Judges 4:8 NLT). She told him sure but victory will come at the hands of a woman. (Verse 9).
In Romans 16, when the Apostle Paul greeted the church, he mentions two women. First, he spoke about Phoebe, who was working as a ministry leader in the early church. Next, he mentioned Priscilla, who, with her husband, served alongside Paul in ministry. There is a place for women in ministry. We all can’t be a Deborah, but we can be like Phoebe and Priscilla, serving faithfully where God calls us to serve.
Thought for Today: Ladies, there is a place for you to serve in the kingdom of God.
