Life is full of difficulty. However, there are those who believe that when you walk with God, all those difficulties evaporate into the air. The reverse is true! You might experience more adversity as you walk with God.
David lived a quiet and peaceable life when he was a shepherd taking care of his father’s sheep. Yes, his family believed that the best use of his talents; he was in the field, and they were in the house. But God sought out David while he was working in the field. “Now the Lord said to Samuel, “You have mourned long enough for Saul. I have rejected him as king of Israel, so fill your flask with olive oil and go to Bethlehem. Find a man named Jesse who lives there, for I have selected one of his sons to be my king.” (1 Samuel 16:1 NLT). Soon, David’s life changed because he slew the giant that terrorized the army.
There is a misconception that exists in the mindset of people of faith: when you slay your giant, life will get easier. It’s worth remembering that not everyone would applaud you when you slay the same giant that was a threat to their safety. Saul was king and he was afraid to face that giant but when he recognized that God hand was on David’s life, he made it his mission to hunt David and kill him. If you slew the giant and there are those chasing you, don’t be discouraged. Giant killers are up to the challenge! Giant killers will step into places that would ignite fear in the hearts of others. Stay focused and keep your eyes on God. In every life there is a giant; you can be like the army and run, or you can stand up like David and be a Giant Killer.
Thought for Today: Friend, Giant Killers do not walk in fear.
