Stand Still: God is Working!

The journey of life passes through many cities. There are cities that are filled with joy, and life is good; we are enjoying health, and the train is running smoothly. Eventually, we pass through the city of challenges, and our posture and facial expressions change. What do we do?

Unfortunately, everyone must pass through this city, not just once but many times. The challenges are varied, but the objective is to destroy our peace. When we look at Moses, we see that his journey took him to the Red Sea at a point where he was fresh out of options. If he was alone, the options would have been different, but here he is leading a nation of people with no place to go. And the enemy was advancing on them. He assessed the situation, and everything seemed impossible. The people are panicking, but Moses had the answer. He said, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” (Exodus 14:13-14 NLT).

Moses recognized that in the challenges of life, he  needed to depend on God. Yes, we like to believe that we can manage every  obstacle that confronts us, but there are some that are beyond our abilities. When we have a cold, we can buy some cold medication over the counter, and we are good to go. What happens when the health challenge doesn’t respond to our remedies, and the doctor gives us news we don’t want to hear? Like Moses at the Red Sea, we, too, need to depend on God. He rescued Moses and the people, and He will rescue you.

Thought for Today: Friend, trust God.
