A Lesson from Noah: Fulfill Your God-Given Purpose!

What do you do when you find yourself in the process of completing an impossible task? An impossible task paves the way for success and acclaim. When the Wright brothers  completed an impossible task in 1903, they changed the world forever. What was their impossible task? They built and flew the world’s first successful airplane.

What happens when you are assigned an impossible task and there is no point of reference to completing your assignment? Is that a task you would want to complete? You might be tempted if you can work privately; but what if you had to complete this impossible task in public knowing that you will face ridicule, would you do it? These were the questions that Noah had to answer when he was faced with an impossible task. But why Noah? Genesis 6:9 NLT tells us: “This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God.” Noah had a relationship with God. One of the definitions of purpose is the reason for which something exists. Man had become so evil that God decided to destroy everything. He commissioned Noah to build a large boat  because He was about to cover the earth with a flood.

Noah’s purpose became known. But it was not going to be an easy task. There was no point of reference for a flood, and nobody knew anything about arks. It was not something that he could do in his basement away from prying eyes and wagging tongues. Noah’s relationship with God propelled him into working on the task God presented to him. This was not easy! Here he is building a vessel to float on water and these people have never seen rain. Despite the difficulty he faced, Noah persevered. “So Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him.”  (Verse  27) Noah fulfilled his purpose.

Thought for Today: Friend, live to fulfill God’s purpose.
