But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God. Daniel 6:10 NLT.
The USPS has a motto; some say it is while others say it’s not. However, most believe that this is it: “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.” That motto speaks of consistency; they always get the job done.
Consistency is a characteristic of a responsible, dependable individual; an individual who walks with integrity. It’s not too difficult to find people who still fit these criteria, you must know where to look. A young man known for his consistent work quality was promoted. He was an immigrant living and working in that country, but his work ethic spoke volumes. When the citizens of that country learned of his promotion to supervisor, they responded by attempting to challenge his credibility. They examined his life and found that he walked with integrity in every area of his life. What they noticed was that he was consistent in his relationship with his God. They decided to use his commitment to God to destroy him. This young man, Daniel, remained consistent even when it became illegal to worship his God.
When these wicked men tried to implement their destructive plan, it backfired and they, along with their families lost their lives. Sometimes, it can be intimidating to remain consistent in a culture that demands you bow before someone or an ideology that would cause us to compromise our belief system, but integrity does not change. We must keep our eyes on Jesus Christ and allow His truth to permeate our lives; then we can be reliable and dependable followers of Christ.
Thought for Today: Friend, work on being dependable and responsible.
