Education is about information. Some information we accept like one plus one makes two. Other times, we need to examine before we accept. The scientist tells us that the earth was formed by a mixture of gas and dust swirling around the sun. And man is the result of evolution from apelike ancestors. I choose to believe what the Bible says.
The first verse in the Bible says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1 NLT). I do not believe that I evolved from apes. I choose to believe that I was created in the image and likeness of God. You see, man did not happen by accident. Genesis 1:26 says, “Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”
What do you believe? Do you believe what the scientists believe that you are the decedents of apes? King David did not believe that! He looked at himself and said: “I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way. What you have done is wonderful. I know this very well.” (Psalm 139:14 NCV). When I think about how God made us alike and different at the same time, it blows my mind. We have individual fingerprints. Even identical twins do not have identical DNA! That tells us that we did not evolve but we are created by God. I can say like David: I am fearfully and wonderfully made!
