Say Yes to God’s Will!

There is an old song by Shirley Caesar that talks about walking in obedience. The song says when God speaks, the answer will be yes Lord yes. This is what we say on our heads but when God speaks, we say yes at times from an uncomfortable place. Jonah had no choice but to say yes when his transportation arrived.

Jonah 2:1-2 NLT says, Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from inside the fish. He said, “I cried out to the Lord in my great trouble, and he answered me. I called to you from the land of the dead, and Lord, you heard me! Jonah recognized that disobedience is sin, and his unpleasant conditions were a direct result of his actions. He was honest with himself, and God and he recounted his experience in the water. What began with I’m doing this my way concluded with submission to the will of God. Isaiah 14:24 tells us, The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has sworn this oath: “It will all happen as I have planned. It will be as I have decided.” God will do what pleases Him: He is sovereign.

God does not change; He is still in control, and He directs His children. While God might not tell you to go down to Nineveh, His word speaks to us today. The Bible gives directions about our lifestyle and what is acceptable in God’s sight. We all have the power to choose how we will respond. It’s worth noting that God will hold us accountable for our decisions.

Thought for Today: Friend, choose God’s way.
