Developing a Lifestyle of Thanksgiving

There is no greater joy in life than the joy of answered prayer. Aiden Wilson Tozer said, “God answers our prayers not because we are good, but because He is good.” When Hannah faced the challenging issue in  her life; she prayed.

After Hannah fulfilled her vow to the Lord, she took time to thank God 1 Samuel 2 is a record of Hannah’s prayer of thanksgiving after God intervened in her life. She was barren but we learn that God gave her more than she asked for. She said, “The childless woman now has seven children, and the woman with many children wastes away.” (verse 5 NLT). Isn’t that just like God? Ephesians 3:20 AMP tells us, “Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us,”  She went from barren to the mother of seven.

What do you do when you receive an answer from God? Do you take the time to engage in thanksgiving and praise? There is an account of ten people with leprosy who went to Jesus for healing. Yet, when they were healed, only one returned to give thanks. Jesus asked where are the other nine. (Luke 17:11-19). I pray that when God answers prayer in your life that you will take some time and give thanks unto God for His goodness and mercy. In other words, let thanksgiving become your lifestyle.

Thought for Today: Friend, always give God thanks.
