Don’t Fail the Faith Test!

When you are walking in the blessings of the Lord, life is great. The sun shines brighter and the flowers smell sweeter. Nothing seems to disturb your peace of mind; but what happens when external circumstances start to impact your blessing?

Abraham found himself living through that kind of situation. After waiting to receive his promise, God had a conversation with Abraham. “Take your son, your only son—yes, Isaac, whom you love so much—and go to the land of Moriah. Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.” (Genesis 22:2 NLT). Abraham probably had to pinch himself to confirm that he heard that conversation correctly. But Abraham loved the giver more than the gift and he trusted God. So he set out in obedience.

As they continued on their journey, the Son asked, “Father?” “Yes, my son?” Abraham replied. “We have the fire and the wood,” the boy said, “but where is the sheep for the burnt offering?” “God will provide a sheep for the burnt offering, my son,” Abraham answered. And they both walked on together. (Genesis 22:7-8). Abraham prepared his son and as he raised the knife, God intervened and provided a lamb. God waited until Abraham surrended to His will before He provided provision. Maybe God is waiting for us to surrender to His will before He provides provision in our lives. Abraham was successful in his test of faith; I pray that we will be successful as well.
