Peace: God’s Gift to You!

Peace! What is peace? We believe that peace is the absence of war and turmoil. The dictionary tells us that peace is freedom from war and violence, especially when people live and work together happily without disagreement.

But is it possible to be in an environment where there are no external conflicts and not experience peace? When people of faith talk about peace, they are referring to a right relationship with God and with their fellow man. Isaiah 26:3 NLT says, “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” So, peace is not dependent on external circumstances; peace is the result of what is happening on the inside. Jesus told His followers: “I give you peace, the kind of peace only I can give. It isn’t like the peace this world can give. So don’t be worried or afraid.” (John 14:27 CEV).

We all want to experience that kind of peace but it’s only possible through Jesus Christ living in our heart. Galatians 5:22-23 talk about peace as the fruit of the Spirit. Fruit is a result of what is going on inside the plant. A tomato plant’s DNA is located within its seed. If you plant and nurture a tomato plant, you cannot reap cucumbers. When Jesus Christ is living in us, then the Spirit produces fruit in our lives. Real peace is a gift from God. Think about this popular saying: Know Jesus, know peace. No Jesus, no peace. My prayer is that you will know Jesus and know peace.

Thought for Today: Friend, genuine peace is a gift from God.
