The poet, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, in his poem, The Rainy Day, concluded “Into each life some rain must fall, Some days must be dark and dreary.” I don’t mind too much when some rain falls outside, but I don’t like the storms. In my personal life, it is the same; I prefer sunshine instead of storms.
If we have our way, we would never be caught in a storm. Storms come to all of us at some point in time. In Mark 4 the Jesus’ Disciples found themselves in a storm. Jesus told them: “Let us cross over to the other side.” (Verse 35 NKJV). So, they got into the boat to make the trip. Jesus was tired from ministering to the multitude, so He fell asleep and a storm arose. The disciples tried their best to manage but the waves were high and water began filling the boat. They panicked and went to Jesus and said: “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” (Verse 38).
Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. (Verse 39). What do you do when the storms of life invade your peace? Do you operate in a state of panic because it appears that Christ is asleep in your storm? When life’s storms invade your life, go straight to Jesus. He has the power to speak peace to the storms of life. He can speak peace into emotional storms, financial storms, health storms, storms in the family, storms on the job. Don’t fear the storm; call on Jesus and he will speak peace to your storm.
Thought for Today: Friend Jesus still speaks peace to our storms.
