Angels: Voices of Worship

Christmas Day is a special day in the year for many people and for a variety of reasons. When I was a child, I had difficulty getting to sleep on Christmas Eve because my anticipation level was so high; I couldn’t wait to get up Christmas morning to go under the Christmas tree. In that season of my life, Christmas was about getting gifts.

In this season of my life, gifts are not my primary focus. I must admit that I love the season but like the hymn writer: I Stand Amazed! When Jesus Christ was born, the angels filled the sky. “Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying,“Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” (Luke 2:13-14 NLT). The angels were engaged in worshipping God. Graham Kendrick said, “Worship in truth is worship that arises out of an actual encounter with God, a response to the experience of knowing God’s real presence and activity in our daily lives.” The angels were voices of worship.

I pray as we spend our time on things that bring pleasure in this season that we will spend some time in God’s presence and worship Him. Isaiah prophesied about Jesus Christ; he said, “For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”  (Isaiah 9:6). A King is born! Let our voices be voices of worship.

Thought for Today: Friend, let us worship our Savior, Jesus Christ.
